What to Expect

Going to the Chiropractor is a new experience for many. Even if you’ve been to a chiropractor before, you’re hoping for someone who will understand what you want, give you what you need, and be empathetic about it.

Your first visit to Ledges Chiropractic Center will be about getting to know the chiropractor and discussing your history, current condition and goals.

As with any doctor's visit, you'll start by finishing some new patient paperwork. When you meet with the doctor, you'll discuss your concerns and expectations as well as have the chance to ask any questions you may have. The doctor will perform a physical examination and most likely take a few x-rays to see what your current state is.

Making an Appointment

The quickest and easiest way to make an appointment is to call our office (during our open hours) at 517-627-7070 . It is best if you have your insurance information ready when you call, because then we can verify your specific chiropractic coverage for you before you even come for your first visit.

If you don’t have chiropractic coverage, we’ll be more than happy to work with you to make sure you can still get the care you need.

Services

Ledges Chiropractic Center offers a variety of services, most of which are covered by many insurance plans.

Spinal Adjustments

These make up the bulk of the chiropractic care experience. An adjustment is the re-alignment of the vertebrae of the spine, either manually or with an instrument. This happens with a quick movement and often without discomfort. You may hear a noise that sounds like you're cracking your knuckles referred to as "joint cavitation". It is the release of gases such as oxygen and nitrogen from the joint.

When vertebrae are out of place (called subluxation ), it has an overall systemic effect throughout the central nervous system. Misaligned vertebrae suppress nerve signals, so without proper alignment, we can't function at our peak. Overall, adjustments are an excellent way to keep the body functioning at its highest level. When the spine is in alignment, the body is able to respond to stimuli and perform as it was designed to.

X-Rays

X-rays help the doctors determine the overall health and structure of your spine so they can design the best care plan for you. We can do these x-rays on site in just 15-20 minutes.

Webster Technique

Both Drs. Marshall and Childs are Webster Certified. The Webster technique is a safe and gentle Chiropractic Technique used during pregnancy to reduce intrauterine constraint, allowing the baby to be in the head down position in preparation for the birth reducing the risk of a C-section. Dr. Larry Webster-who founded the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association-developed this adjustment as a way to improve pelvic balance and function while also reducing the stress to the ligaments that support the uterus, specifically the round ligaments, after witnessing his own daughter suffer through the long and painful labor of a breech child.
